Safaris at Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature, Paris

June 1, 2016

Musée de la Chasse et de la Nature
62 Rue des Archives
Paris, France

March 30 — Sept. 4, 2016

Eleven artists explore the mythological underpinnings of the hunt. The works in the exhibition attest to the exhilaration and disillusion of the hunter. The heroic or mystical impulses of the hunter are contrasted with the moral implications of the death of the hunted. Informed by styles and techniques inherited from the past, artists in “Safaris” often emphasize the tension between reality and fiction that characterizes the “art” of hunting.
